Cleco employees decorate Alexandria Zoo for Zoo Boo and Holiday Light Safari | Cleco

Cleco employees helped the staff at the Alexandria Zoo get in the holiday spirit by decorating the property for Zoo Boo and Holiday Light Safari as part of the company’s Done in a Day program.

Through the Done in a Day program, Cleco employees volunteer with Louisiana nonprofits or other areas of the community in need who request assistance with a project that can be completed in one day or a few hours.

Cleco employees painted decorations, replaced lightbulbs in displays and set up a spooky themed golf course.

“Volunteering at the Alexandria Zoo each year is one of the most popular Done in a Day events that Cleco participates in,” said Brooke Buford, Done in a Day coordinator. “Our team loves to help out with these holiday traditions in our community, spending time getting them ready for Zoo Boo and Holiday Light Safari, while also visiting with the animals.”

It takes a lot of work to get the property ready for both events.

“We are thrilled to welcome corporate, and community, volunteer groups at the Alexandria Zoo! Zoo Boo and Holiday Light Safari are beloved events hosted by the Friends of the Alexandria Zoo for decades, but the facility wide events require assistance to make the dream a reality,” said Catie Hirsh, Curator of Education at the Alexandria Zoo. “Each year our community contributes hundreds of service hours to help bring these events to life.”
