Columbiana holiday light event opens Nov. 22

Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau has announced the dates for events that are part of its 2024 Joy of Christmas Light Show.

Opening night will be 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 22. The event will coincide with the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Parade, which runs 6 to 8 p.m. along Main Street.

Joy of Christmas 2024 is held on select nights in November and December – Nov. 22-24; and Nov. 28 through Dec. 28 at Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, 338 E. Park Ave. in Columbiana.

The Joy of Christmas Light Show will feature more than 1 million lights and more than 90 displays throughout the park.

Throughout the event’s run, special events will take place on site.

Columbiana County Humane Society will take pet photos with Santa on Nov. 16. For details, call 234-575-7177.

Other events will be:

Every Sunday night – First Responder & Senior Nights; $10 admission for first responders, veterans and those ages 65 and older.

Nov. 30 – Hay Ride + Petting Zoo + Walk-It Night. Entry is $5 per person. Guests will enjoy the displays and petting zoo on foot or by Hayride. (The hayride and petting zoo are one-night-only.) No cars permitted.

Dec. 4 – Santa’s Special Night. Appointment-only evening for individuals living with special needs. Details TBA.

Dec. 5 – Walk-It Night. Stroll the Joy of Christmas Light Show on foot. Entry is $5 per person. No cars permitted.

Dec. 10 – T’was the Night Before 5K. Register at secondsoletiming.com. Joy of Christmas will be closed to the public.

Dec. 27 – Walk-It Night. Stroll through 1 million lights on foot. Entry is $5 per person. No cars.

In addition to the drive-thru displays, JOC offers:

Gingerbread House – Story-time with Mrs. Claus on Thursdays, Sundays and special nights only. Gingerbread house display crafted by students from area schools and local professionals. Children’s activities and crafts. Mrs. Claus’ last night is Dec. 23. Gingerbread House is closed from Dec. 24-28.

Santa’s Ice Castle – $1 concessions benefiting local nonprofit and civic organizations. Photos with Santa for an additional fee. Wish Tree and indoor train display. Children’s activities/crafts. Santa’s last night is Dec. 23. Ice Castle is closed Dec. 24-28.

Entry fees are $20 per vehicle, and $40 for a seasonal pass. Entry on Sunday nights is $10 for all first-responders and those ages 65 and older.
