As winter approaches, Dillon is planning to bring back its popular holiday lights display, including a new addition to the 3D lights sculptures that have sparkled throughout the downtown in recent years.
The Dillon Town Council on Tuesday, Oct. 22, approved a $108,000 contract with Elevation Holiday Lights to light up Town Park and major core streets. Dillon events and recreation director Jessie Klehfoth wrote in a staff memo to the council that the lights will create “an enchanted atmosphere and walkable display for the community and town guests to enjoy all winter long.”
The town expects almost 240 trees to be lit with approximately 7.5 miles worth of lights, Klehfoth said. The 3D light sculptures that residents and visitors have enjoyed in past years – including the walk-in ornament, magic arch, teddy bear and fox – will all be making a return, she said.
There will also be a new addition to the lights display this year: a 15-foot tall, 21-foot long majestic stag. According to the staff memo, the stag will be the fifth 3D light sculpture to be included in the digital treasure hunt that aims to encourage people to walk around town and explore.
The total 2024 budget for holiday lighting is $150,000 and with the remaining budget town staff are working on additional lighting pieces and activation to enhance the experience, according to the memo.
“The goal is to continue to create a magical experience for residents and visitors to the Town of Dillon with a surprise around every corner,” Klehfoth wrote.
