Council approves return of Christmas Light Drive-Thru at Casper Speedway - Casper, WY Oil City News

CASPER, Wyo. — On Tuesday, the Casper City Council gave its approval for the return of a unique Christmas experience to the Casper Speedway north of the Ford Wyoming Center this holiday season.

The council approved the temporary use agreement with Christmas Delight LLC by consent at its regular meeting at City Hall on Nov. 5. The agreement allows the company to transform the city-owned Casper Speedway into a “Christmas Light Drive-Thru” for a third year.

“They possess the knowledge and experience related to the show and have established a good working relationship with City staff,” the memo said, adding, “Unfortunately, the Casper Mountain Racers Association has terminated their lease effective November 1.”

The association’s president, Chris McCauly, confirmed to Oil City News on Tuesday that he is retiring organizing the races after taking over the four-year lease that expired this year. He said it is hard to find consistent help. He said there were many people initially interested in answering the city’s request for proposals to operate the facility, but knew of only one submission by the Nov. 4 deadline.

McCauly said he’s run or helped out the operations for the last 17 years. “I put my time in; now it’s time to sit back and enjoy it,” he said.
