ABOUT “THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS”
“Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a stop-motion animated musical film released in 1993, conceived and produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. It has since become a beloved cult classic, particularly popular during both Halloween and Christmas seasons due to its unique blend of spooky and festive themes.
The story follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who becomes bored with his usual Halloween routine. One day, he stumbles upon Christmas Town and is enchanted by its joyous spirit and colorful decorations. Inspired by what he sees, Jack decides to bring Christmas to Halloween Town by taking over Santa Claus’ role. However, his attempt to blend Halloween and Christmas leads to chaos and unintended consequences.

THE DISNEY CONNECTION
Fans are drawn to its distinct gothic visual style, memorable characters and catchy songs, all set in a macabre world. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Danny Elfman, features songs like “This Is Halloween,” “What’s This?” and “Oogie Boogie’s Song.” Elfman also provided the singing voice for Jack Skellington.
Although it was produced by Disney, the film was initially released under the Touchstone Pictures label, because Disney was concerned it might be too dark and unconventional for its traditional family audience.
Over time, however, Disney embraced the movie, and it has since become part of the official Disney franchise, with characters and imagery appearing in theme parks, merchandise and more.
Today, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is celebrated for its imaginative storytelling, artistic innovation and timeless appeal. It continues to capture the hearts of fans around the world, bridging the gap between Halloween and Christmas in a way that only Tim Burton’s unique style can.
