Jul 06, 2023Street Lighting Project In Radnor Begins Wednesday, June 7
RADNOR, PA —You may see workers around the township wearing yellow vests.
The field audit phase of Radnor Township's streetlight LED upgrade project begins Wednesday, June 7, and will take approximately 10-15 days.
Crews from Evari GIS will be working throughout the township taking inventory and photographing the streetlights.
Crews will be in cars marked with the company name and they will be wearing yellow vests.
In April, the township commissioners agreed to proceed with a project to transform street lights into a more energy-efficient system.
The township is participating in Delaware Valley Regional Streetlight Procurement Program, which tailors the transition to each municipality's needs.
The program began in 2015. To date, 70 municipalities have participated.
LED lighting can reduce energy costs by 50 to 75 percent. The program provides technical assistance to help with the transition.
Radnor Township has 1,350 street lights of which 1,100 are the classic street lights that could be replaced with LED street lights.
Neighboring Tredyffrin Township has put in LED lights.
